Fix You - Coldplay

Why can't someone say things like these to me?

When you try your best but you don't succeed
When you get what you want but not what you need
When you feel so tired but you can't sleep
Stuck in reverse

And the tears come streaming down your face
When you lose something you can't replace
When you love someone but it goes to waste
Could it be worse?

Lights will guide you home
And ignite your bones
And I will try to fix you

And high up above or down below
When you're too in love to let it go
But if you never try you'll never know
Just what you're worth

Lights will guide you home
And ignite your bones
And I will try to fix you

Tears stream
Down on your face
When you lose something you cannot replace

Tears stream
Down your face
And I.......

Tears stream
Down on your face
I promise you I will learn from my mistakes

Tears stream
Down your face
And I........

Lights will guide you home
And ignite your bones
And I will try to fix you

Swallowed in the Sea - Coldplay

Again, a song that can't be properly expressed with only the lyrics. To fully appreciate it, you have to listen to it.

You cut me down a tree
And brought it back to me
And that's what made me see
Where I was going wrong

You put me on a shelf
And kept me for yourself
I can only blame myself
You can only blame me

And I could write a song
A hundred miles long
Well that's where I belong
And you belong with me

And I could write it down
And spread it all around
Get lost and then get found
Or swallowed in the sea

You put me on a line
And hung me out to dry
And darling, that's when I
Decided to go see

You cut me down to size
And opened up my eyes
Made me realize
What I could not see

And I could write a book
The one they'll say that shook
The world and then it took
It took it back from me

And I could write it down
And spread it all around
Get lost and then get found
And you'll come back to me

Not swallowed in the sea
And I could write a song
A hundred miles long
Well that's where I belong
And you belong with me

The streets you're walking on
A thousand houses long
Well, that's where I belong
And you belong with me

Oh, what good is it to live
With nothing left to give
Forget, but not forgive
Not loving all you see

All the streets you're walking on
A thousand houses long
Well, that's where I belong
And you belong with me
Not swallowed in the sea

You belong with me
Not swallowed in the sea
Yeah, you belong with me
Not swallowed in the sea

I Wonder - Blind Melon

I remember when I was 16 and the last line in this song meant so much to me. The day I turned 17, I thought to myself how this wasn't "my" song anymore.

God I miss you Shannon

All alone the broadening skies
Under the every night I will lie
Scratching claw and grip the rails
Every day my living hell

Oh God you know I've tried
I know how hard I've tried
and oh I tried......

Hey I'd like to daze away
To a place like no one has known
In a state of mind I could call mine
That only I could own

Where I could hum a tune anytime I choose
And then there is no such thing as time
Where I can feel no pain
Just calm and sane

What a place for one to find

Now you see
I'm watching everything I do
And they're watching everything I say
Why won't they leave me be?
Oh, leave me be

I ask myself, I say
Why am I even here?

I wonder
You leave me wondering
You leave me wondering

Won't you stop watching me
I said they're watching me, watching me, watching me

Now in my corner
I got this feeling in my eyes
Arms holding up my knees
And rocking back and forth my life

I didn't mean to feel this way
When I walked into the door
Then they ripped away my memories
And I cant remember who I was before

Now, they're watching everything I do
And they're watching everything I say
So they leave me be
Oh, leave me be

I only wanted to be 16 ... and free

and I wonder

Satellite - Collective Soul

Soon a man will kneel to pray
Soon the light will burn our ... shade

And with the sweet the bitter fades
So take my heart and take your ... place

Cause I will be your force
And I will be your right
And I will watch over you like a ... satellite

Soon reason will have rhyme
Soon wisdom will ... imply

And with courage doubt subsides
So take my heart and take my ... pride

Cause I will be your fault
And I will be your right
And I will watch over you like a ... satellite

And I will be your sword
And will be your might
And will watch over like a ... satellite

Rivers will flow
From scenes unknown
I'll guide you through
By the love I'll show
And the stars will wish
Upon the night
That they could have
A guiding ... satellite

Cause I will be your sword
And I will be your might
And I will watch over you like a ... satellite

And will be your days
And will be your night
And I will watch over you like
Just like a satellite
Just like a satellite

Masters of War - Bob Dylan

I first heard this song many years ago during a Bob Dylan tribute, as sung by Eddie Vedder. Although it's a Dylan song, when Eddie sings it, I can so FEEL it.

Come you masters of war
You that build all the guns
You that build the death planes
You that build the big bombs
You that hide behind walls
You that hide behind desks
I just want you to know I can see through your masks

You that never done nothin'
But build to destroy
You play with my world
Like it's your little toy
You put a gun in my hand
And you hide from my eyes
And you turn and run farther when the fast bullets fly

Like Judas of old
You lie and deceive
A world war can be won
You want me to believe
But I see through your eyes
And I see through your brain
Like I see through the water that runs down my drain

You fasten the triggers
For the others to fire
Then you set back and watch
When the death count gets higher
You hide in your mansion
While young people's blood
Flows out of their bodies and is buried in the mud

You've thrown the worst fear
That could ever be hurled
The fear to bring children
Into this world
For threatening my baby
Unborn and unnamed
You ain't worth the blood that runs in your veins

How much do I know
To talk out of turn
You might say that I'm young
You might say I'm unlearned
But there's one thing I know
Though I'm younger than you
Even Jesus would never forgive what you do

Let me ask you one question
Is your money that good
Will it buy you forgiveness
Do you think that it could
I think you will find
When your death takes its toll
All the money you made will never buy back your soul

And I hope that you die
And your death'll come soon
I will follow your casket
In the pale afternoon
And I'll watch while you're lowered
Down to your deathbed
And I'll stand o'er your grave 'til I'm sure that you're dead

Talk Tonight - Oasis

Oh Noel, you have such a beautiful voice. Why did you even let Liam into your band?

Sittin' on my own
Chewin' on a bone
A thousand million
Miles from home
When
Something
Hit me
Somewhere right between the eyes

Sleepin' on a plane
You know you can't complain
You took your last chance
Once again
I landed
Stranded
Hardly even knew your name

I wanna talk tonight
Until the mornin' light
'Bout how you saved my life

Didn't we see how we are
Didn't we see how we are

All your dreams are made
Of strawberry lemonade
And you make sure
I eat today
You take me
Walking
To where you played when you were young

I'll never say that I
Won't ever make you cry
And this I'll say
I don't know why
I know I'm
Leavin'
But I'll be back another day

I wanna talk tonight
Until the mornin' light
'Bout how you saved my life
I wanna talk tonight
'Bout how you saved my life
'Bout how you saved my life
'Bout how you saved my life
'Bout how you saved my life
I wanna talk tonight
I wanna talk tonight
I wanna talk tonight

Throw Your Arms Around Me

Although I heard this song as covered by Pearl Jam, it's originally by Hunters and Collecters. I was tempted to put Eddie's version of the lyrics, but the second verse as it was really written is so beautiful that I decided to go with the original...

I will come for you at nighttime
I will raise you from your sleep
I will kiss you in four places
As I go running along your street
I will squeeze the life out of you
You will make me laugh and make me cry

And we will never forget it
You will make me call your name
And I'll shout it to the blue summer sky
And we may never meet again
So shed your skin and let's get started
And you will throw your arms around me
Yeah, you will throw your arms around me

I dreamed of you at nighttime
And I watched you in your sleep
I met you in high places
I touched your head and touched your feet
So if you disappear out of view
You know I will never say goodbye

And though I try to forget it
You will make me call your name
And I'll shout it to the blue summer sky...
And we may never meet again...
So shed your skin and let's get started
And you will throw your arms around me
Yeah, you will throw your arms around me
